1. When this painting first arrived at the studio it was very dull and brown looking.

2. The first step of cleaning this painting was to remove any dust and yellow staining that has been caused by the build-up of nicotine over the years. You can see a difference already.

3. After removing the surface dirt and nicotine we then removed a layer of old varnish that had gone yellow over the years from half of the left side. Now in this section we begin to see the lovely colours of the painting

4. Now with the left side completely cleaned it shows a great before and after effect

5. After the painting is completely clean it was given a fresh varnish showing the true colours the artist intended.
